Born in Auray (Brittany), to a fisherman-father in Quiberon, a lover of the sea and a surfer in the 1980s and to a mother who was also passionate about surfing, I grew up in a small village at the foot of dunes of St barbe (Quiberon peninsula); rocked by the winds and the sound of the swell …
My geographic and family environment already predestined me for a life related to the ocean.
This is how I discovered surfing when I was very young. It gave me such pleasure that, very quickly, I practiced it in all seasons with my brother and my friends. Around the age of 7-8, I wanted to compete out of curiosity and I liked it right away. Then began my career as a “young surfer competitor” (departmental, regional, national competitions, etc.).
In 2006 (at the age of 12), change of scenery: we moved to Hossegor in the Landes (Mecca of professional surfing). With a project and a goal more seriously oriented to surfing. This is how my brother and I found our 1st sponsor. Then begins a distance education (Cned) to free up time for better training. This allowed us to travel around the world, on the one hand to progress by surfing all types of waves, and on the other hand to ride the most prestigious waves of the planet during photo or video trips.
With Nelson, this common passion has strengthened our brotherhood.
The reward was the selections for 7 years in the Junior French Team for the European and World Championships, a very rewarding experience. At the same time, I also embarked on a career as a professional surfer with the Pro Juniors (13 to 20 years old) and the WQS (around 17 years old). These first allowed me to be qualified 3 times for the World Pro junior (-21 years old) bringing together the best young surfers on the planet. After several years on WQS International, it’s … the accident. On May 7, 2015, during a surf session, poor reception of the float fractured my right leg (shin / fibula) requiring two surgeries 1 month apart. Then started a long convalescence and rehabilitation course with several episodes at the CERS (European Center for Sports Rehabilitation) in Capbreton. A challenging journey both physically and mentally, the goal was to regain my level to resume the circuit of international competitions.
What a joy, after this long episode of rehabilitation to leave with my brother on the WQS circuit to relive intense sensations.
A surf school in Seignosse
In 2017, we decided to prepare our surfing tutoring while continuing the competitions with the idea of founding a common school to transmit our professional experience and our passion for riding.
It is finally in 2020, that our intention is concretized with the birth of the “Cloarec Surf Institute”!
